Caroline Flack has defended Kim Kardashian’s naked selfie, saying gender is the reason people have criticised her.

Kardashian, 35, faced a barrage of public criticism after she posted a full frontal naked selfie on Twitter alongside the caption: “When you're like I have nothing to wear LOL.”

But Flack has defended the reality star, saying people would not have responded in the same way to a full frontal naked male selfie.

She tweeted: “Would everyone be making this fuss if a man posted the same picture as Kim Kardashian? I think not.”

Nick Grimshaw later joked that he would test Flack's claim, tweeting: "Shall I post it?"

US actress Bella Thorne also mimicked Flack’s sentiments and used International Women’s Day to defend Kardashian, tweeting: “@chloemoretz_ @KimKardashian I think every woman should be allowed to make their own choices with their OWN bodies and it's not our place to tell them what they can and can't do with their body ..#internationalwomensday (sic).”

Flack and Thorne's comments come hours after Bette Midler, Chloe Moretz and Piers Morgan criticised the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star.

Midler joked that Kardashian will have to "swallow a camera" if she wants fans to see a part of her they've never seen, Moretz criticised her for being a bad role model and Morgan promised to buy her some clothes.

Unimpressed by the comments, Kardashian called out the trio on Twitter in a series of tweets familiar to her husband Kanye West's outbursts.

She sarcastically welcomed an 'unknown' Moretz to Twitter and told Midler to "send nudes" before tweeting: "#justkidding."

Kardashian also slammed Morgan, tweeting: "Never offer to buy a married woman clothes. That's on some Ashley Madison type s**t #forresearch (sic)."
