Killing Eve star Jodie Comer left fans confused after she unveiled her real accent.

The 25-year-old Liverpudlian has gained much attention for her role as deadly psychopathic assassin Villanelle opposite Sandra Oh’s MI5 officer Eve Polastri in the BBC America series.

The show sees Comer put on a number of different accents including Russian and American as a way of disguising her real identity from authorities.

Comer also buried her accent as part of her role in BBC hit show Doctor Foster, where she portrayed Kate Parks, a well-spoken 20-something-year-old from the home counties.

However, despite having a number of roles under her belt, Comer has never used her real accent.

When she appeared on This Morning to promote Killing Eve, she left fans stunned by her real-life accent with many praising her “versatility.”

One user wrote: “Everything I’ve seen Jodie Comer in - My Mad Fat Diary, Doctor Foster, Thirteen, Killing Eve.

"She’s had a different accent, and in real life she has NONE OF THOSE ACCENTS because she is a SCOUSER and i'm EVEN MORE OBSESSED, a versatile queen!"

Another commented: “Hearing Jodie Comer speak in her own Scouse accent is so weird after seeing her talk very differently in Killing Eve and Doctor Foster. Is there any accent she can’t do? What a talent.”

A third added: “So I’ve just heard Jodie Comer speak in her Liverpudlian accent after watching her as Villanelle in #KillingEve and I’m wiped out, so good.”

The drama, from Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge, won fans Stateside when it aired there in April, and recently started on BBC1. Such is its success that filming has already begun on the second series.

Comer told ES Magazine: “I live in Liverpool, still at home with my mum and dad. I get the best of both worlds. I’m here now for six months [filming in London], but as soon as that six months is over, there’s nowhere else I want to go other than home ... I just love Liverpool. I love London, but I like to leave.”
