Khloe Kardashian has called for a celebration of “all shapes” and slammed bodyshamers who admitted she was “gorgeous” only after she lost weight.

The reality TV star — who famously slimmed down after her split from former husband Lamar Odom — is launching an “empowering” denim range that caters for larger figures without calling them “plus size”.

She criticised designers who refused to dress her when she was “heavier” and said she ignored “naysayers or bloggers” who used to call her fat.

Kardashian, half-sister of models Kendall and Kylie Jenner, told ES Magazine: “[Celebrity stylists] said they didn’t dress people my size. It’s shocking. Once I lost weight, the same people would reach out and be like, ‘We would love to style you.’ I was like, ‘Screw you.’”

Model Ashley Graham has also spoken out about the issue, with Coach one of only a few brands who wanted to dress her British Vogue January cover shoot. Actress Melissa McCarthy has told of her struggle to find a designer willing to dress her for the 2012 Oscars.

Kardashian — who hosts fitness show Revenge Body, where contestants lose weight and show off the result to their exes — said she had learned to deal with the “naysayers, the bloggers who would call me fat. Now they’re like, ‘Gorgeous Khloe.’ I’m like, ‘No I was gorgeous either way.’”

Her Good American Jeans are launching in the UK in sizes six to 24. She said she hated the term “plus size” so the whole range is sold under one name: “I never considered myself fat but when I used to shop with my sisters I was always really shamed and shunned by [sales assistants] who’d say: ‘We don’t carry that size here.’ I was so embarrassed, so for a long time I didn’t wear denim at all. I kept getting angrier.” She said her new line was “about empowerment, making women feel great about themselves and embracing women of all shapes. Trends transcend size.”

Kardashian, 32, who has a bestselling fitness book, Strong Looks Better Naked, recently featured in a Tube advert for Protein World that critics said could cause confidence issues among young women. On it she wore a revealing leotard with the line “Can you keep up with a Kardashian?”

Khloe — now dating Canadian basketball player Tristan Thompson, 26, after splitting up with basketballer Odom in 2013 — also spoke about her sister Kim’s robbery ordeal in Paris last October. Masked men held her at gunpoint and stole millions of dollars of jewellery.

Khloe said it made her angry that her sister was blamed for displaying her gems on social media: “That is the most irresponsible accusation. I don’t care how little or how much you have, nobody deserves to be violated and robbed and assaulted and traumatised.”

Kim was doing well following the incident: “Kimberly is one of the strongest women I’ve met. We’re not people who sit in sorrow if something bad happens and go, ‘Woe is me.’ We take these experiences and try to help somebody else.”
