Kanye West has found himself competition in the form of Katie Hopkins, who today referred to herself as the “new Jesus”.

The outspoken columnist gave a speech at the Church and the Media conference in London where she told audience members that she is “leading the way” against the intolerance of the liberal left.

"I'm Jesus of the outspoken,” she said. “Jesus had his followers – I have 600,000 followers on Twitter. It’s about leading the way – I am the new Jesus."

She described herself as “brave” and told the audience that she is “pushing back the walls closing in on freedom of speech”.

Hopkins who described refugees as cockroaches and most recently referred to a disabled child as “it” said she does not regret her past comments.

Speaking to the gathering – which included vicars, bishops and Christian charity workers – she said: “I have never apologised for anything I’ve said.

"I find it very disappointing when people apologise.

"You should have the positive moral attitude to stand by what you say.”

The columnist - who also voiced her plans to publish a Christmas book titled, The Bible According to Katie Hopkins - described herself as a positive role model.

“Lots of young girls, women, ladies find it reaffirming that there’s someone with a strong view," she said. "But I accept there’s another 50% who hate my guts.”
