Katie Hopkins has been accused of online bullying after she made a comment about Scarlett Moffatt’s weight.

Hopkins, 41, mocked the Gogglebox star’s figure as she referenced the nursery rhyme, Little Miss Muffet.

Alongside a picture of Moffatt she tweeted: “Little Miss Moffatt sat on her tuffet, eating her curds and way more than she should @ScarlettMoffatt.”

Users were quick to slam her comments with one saying she had gone “too far”.

One user wrote: “What possible reason could you have to tweet that? Surely this is just online bullying?”

Another posted: “Wtf are you doing? It's one thing being outspoken but this is just outright bullying! Leave her alone.”

Moffat later hit back at the comments and joked that she had predicted the Twitter outburst in her new book, Scarlett Says.

She posted an excerpt which details how she predicted Hopkins would make a nasty comment about her appearance after reading her opinion on her in the book.

Moffatt tweeted: "Always one step ahead of you, Hopkins... #scarlettsays #katiehopkins."

Hopkins' comments come days after Moffatt revealed she has recieved "brutal" comments about her appearance.

"There are odd ones, mostly men, who criticise me about my weight and my size and say I’m ugly," she told the Belfast Telegraph.

"I'd be lying if I said that it doesn't hurt sometimes. People are brutal. They forget that people on telly are actually real people. It upsets my mum and dad. I'm quite a strong character, but it breaks my heart for them."

The Geordie Gogglebox star also opened up about her changing weight and blamed "alcohol and kebabs".

Speaking about dancing as a child, Moffatt said: "It was really intense training but when I stopped when I was a student and discovered alcohol and kebabs and I've never found any exercise to replace it."
