Victoria Pendleton is feeling a “pang” for the old two-wheels-and-a-bell, as she becomes more convinced her dancing days are over.

The Olympic gold medallist, who initially said it would be a relief to leave the velodrome when she joined Strictly Come Dancing, has admitted she can’t wait to get back to the bike – albeit her “girl’s bike” with a basket on the front rather than an Olympic speed machine.

The cycling star avoided the dance-off on this week’s Strictly despite finishing towards the bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday.

But she wrote in the Radio Times that she didn’t think she could “last much longer” against show favourites Louis Smith and Denise Van Outen.

"I don't know how much more I can actually improve. In short, it would take a miracle for me to pick up that glitterball trophy," she wrote.

The star added that she was looking forward to cycle rides with her fiancé at her home in Wilmslow near Cheshire.

Pendleton said she may be feeling a little "broody" after meeting her dance partner Brendan Cole's pregnant wife Zoe.

"It made me coo so much," she added.

The new edition of Radio Times is out today.
