Michelle Keegan has revealed that her marriage to Mark Wright has been strengthened because they are both “really happy in their careers”.

Keegan told Cosmopolitan magazine how they stayed in touch via FaceTime and how their relationship was only reinforced by the distance, helped by them both being happy in work.

The actress, who married the former TOWIE star in 2015, was away from him while filming BBC hit Our Girl for eight months in South Africa and Malaysia.

The 30-year-old said to the publication: “It was like he was in the room. He’d have breakfast, I’d have dinner. He’d get in the shower, I’d do my scripts. It was the norm. We were [living at] different ends of the spectrum.

“I remember FaceTime-ing him surrounded by cattle and mud. He was in Nobu in Malibu having cocktails saying, ‘Aw babe, look at the view!’ I said, ‘Do you want to see my view?’

“We’re more patient with each other, laid-back, and don't sweat the small stuff. I think because we’re really happy in our careers it helps with the relationship as well.”

Former The Only Way Is Essex star Wright moved to Los Angeles last year after being given a television presenting spot on Extra.

The 31-year-old joined presenters Mario Lopez (who Nineties TV fans will recognise as AC Slater from Saved by the Bell), Tracey Edmonds and Charissa Thompson.

Recently, Wright’s former co-star Chloe Sims slammed Wright in her Star magazine column after she saw that he had liked a photo of Rita Ora’s bottom on social media.

The star wrote: “I would definitely be annoyed if a partner did that to me. When men 'like' other women's bodies on social media, it's really disrespectful to their wives or girlfriends. I find it cringey!”

The full interview appears in the April 2018 issue of Cosmopolitan, on sale 1st March.
