Irish comedian Andrew Maxwell is just one of the 12 celebrities taking part in the current series of I'm A Celebrity..Get Me Out of Here!

The panel show regular, 45, has joined the likes of Caitlyn Jenner and Ian Wright in the jungle for the latest series and while not as well-known as some campmates, Andrew has cropped up on our screens over the years.

The 45-year-old has won awards for his act, even being voted the "King of Comedy" in 2004 on the Channel 4 reality TV show of the same name.

But the comic is so far having a rather tough time in the jungle, breaking down in tears on Saturday night's show having already clashed with campmates last week.​

Who is I'm A Celeb's Andrew Maxwell?

Born in Dublin on December 3, 1975, Andrew began his stand-up career in 1992 at The International Comedy Club in the Irish capital, and from 1995 appeared on BBC Two's Sunday's Show. He soon began taking warm-up slots on British television,before landing regular gigs on a number of different panel shows.

His 2004 King of Comedy awards gong on the short-live show saw Andrew come up against both upcoming and established comedians, such as Janey Godley and Stan Boardman, with the show hosted by Russell Brand.

Along with his King Of Comedy gong Andrew has also been nominated for the if.comedy award for the best show at the Edinburgh Fringe. Other awards include the Time Out Live Award for Best Stand-up, the Chortle Award for Best Contribution To The Live Comedy and the Best Irish Comedian gong at the Entertainment.ie Awards.

Andrew is also a radio regular, and alongside appearances on Radio 4's The News Quiz has presented a series called Welcome to Wherever You Are. He has guest starred on The Now Show, State of the Nations and It’s Not What You Know, all on BBC Radio 4. He also regularly hosted Andrew Maxwell’s Public Enemies on BBC Radio 4 on 2013 covering topics such as nationalism, drugs trade, the Internet and the food industry.

He is also the host of weekly late-night comedy gig Fullmooners, which takes place mainly in London but has toured the UK, and this year Andrew toured the UK for the first time in nearly a decade.

After warm-up slots on shows such as The Jonathan Ross Show and They Think It's All Over, regular appearances include Mock The Week, Never Mind The Buzzcocks and on Irish show The Panel (2003-2011) where he made his name appearing alongside comics such as Ed Byrne, Neil Delamere, Colin Murphy and Dara O Briain.

Since 2014, Maxwell has voiced MTV’s Ex on the Beach, which has ran for nine series.

The show sees four single men and four single women jet off to a beachside resort and party – before being confronted by their exes.

Like Love Island narrator Iain Stirling, Maxwell gives witty commentary on the programme.

Also in 2014, Andrew appeared on Comedy Central's Drunk History. Other TV appearances includes Andrew Maxwell – My Name Up In Lights and the Secret Policeman's Ball in 2006, and he's also popped up on Celebrity Juice, Live At The Apollo, Have I Got News For Your, Celebrity Juice, and he has appeared alongside Al Murray on Al Murray: Why Does Everyone Hate The English.

Is Andrew married?

He has been married since 2016 to a woman who is of Egyptian descent, but little is known about her since she prefers to stay out of the spotlight. Andrew has however been known to joke about his relationship with his in-laws and once joked about trying to get his father in-law to attend his wedding in Belfast. He has three children, including his son Flynn who is thought to be running his Twitter account while he's in the jungle, while his youngest is just two.​
