Not happy with going viral once, "Chewbacca Mum", looks set to win over the internet again after joining James Corden on The Late Late Show.

Candace Payne – who shot to online fame after sharing a Facebook Live video of herself laughing in a Chewbacca mask – was invited onto the US chat show where she got the giggles all over again while sat in a car with Corden and J.J. Abrams.

The short skit shows Corden becoming irritated by her “Happy Chewbacca” which he claims doesn’t sound anything like the legendary Wookiee warrior.

But Star Wars director Abrams makes a surprise appearance in the backseat and dons the comical mask.

“I got to disagree,” he says. “It is an excellent Chewbacca.”

Abrams and Ms Payne finally convince Corden to try on a mask and the trio are left in fits of laughter.

Ms Payne's original post is the most viewed Facebook Live video of all time, with more than 140 million views.

Speaking to Corden about why she filmed the clip and posted it online she joked that she wanted people to know that she purchased the mask for herself and not her children.

"I wanted to prove that that mask was mine," she said. "I knew the moment [my children] saw it they were going to take it from me and I was like 'I didn't buy it for you little kids'."

Ms Payne was later surprised again as Corden revealed that Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew had written her a note and invited her to meet him at a Fan Expo.

“Candace, you are an inspiration,” the letter read. “Your attitude and lovely message really resonates and spreading the message the good word of Star Wars with a heart, well, it’s so much of why we do what we do.

“I’d love to get to meet you and your family in person. In two weeks we have Dallas Fan Expo in your own hometown and my hometown. I have acquired four VIP passes for you and your family to come with the show. I’ve also set up a private meet and greet so we can catch up whilst you are there. All my love, Peter.”
