With Christmas out of the way, it can mean only one thing: award season is upon us.

Kicking off the glitzy film accolades is the 77th annual Golden Globe Awards, which celebrates standout performances in film and TV.

But when is it, what venue hosts the awards and who will be presenting this year?

Here's everything you need to know...

What date are the Golden Globes 2020?

This year's event will be taking place on Sunday January 5 and marks the 77th annual awards.

While it kicks off in the US at 8pm on Sunday night, UK film and TV fans will have to stay up until 1am BST on Monday to follow along with the ceremony.

Where do the Golden Globes take place?

Once again, this year's Golden Globes will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, located in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.

It has previously been hosted at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

Who's hosting the 77th annual awards show?

British comedian Ricky Gervais will be hosting this year's event - the After Life star has also presented in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2016.

That said, Gervais has confirmed that this will be the last year he'll be doing the gig.
