Golden Globe Awards 2017 nominations: La La Land, Nocturnal Animals and The Night Manager lead the way

La La Land, Nocturnal Animals and The Night Manager have all received nods at this year’s Golden Globes nominations.

Damon Chazelle’s much-lauded musical has been nominated for Best Film, Musical or Comedy, Best Screenplay and Best Director while its stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone have been recognised in the acting categories.

Tom Ford’s second feature Nocturnal Animals also received a nod for Best Film, going up against Moonlight, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Lion and Manchester by the Sea.

The designer-turned-director’s lead Amy Adams will battle it out against Jessica Chastain, Isabelle Huppert, Ruth Negga and Natalie Portman in the Best Actress category.

Casey Affleck, who just picked up a Critics’ Choice Award for Manchester By The Sea, will go up against Joel Edgerton, Andrew Garfield, VIggo Mortensen and Denzel Washington in the Best Actor category.

It’s a big year for Netflix over in the TV categories, with both The Crown and Stranger Things earning a number of nominations.

British talent is also well represented, with acting nods going to Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman, Hugh Grant, Claire Foy, Ruth Negga, Andrew Garfield and Riz Ahmed.

Notable snubs included Tom Hanks for his role in Sully and Martin Scorsese’s Silence.

Laura Dern, Don Cheadle and Anna Kendrick announced the nominations at the Beverly Hilton in LA on Monday morning.

The 2017 ceremony, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, will take place on January 8.
