George Clooney and fiancé Amal Alamuddin will not be marrying at Chelsea Town Hall

Chelsea Town Hall has been forced to deny the rumours that George Clooney and Alma Alamuddin were expected to tie the knot in a civil ceremony at the venue later today.

After being flooded with journalists and paparazzi hoping to get a snap of the newlyweds, the Town Hall, situated on Chelsea’s Kings Road, put up a sign to deny the rumours for fear that the media crowds would disrupt other ceremonies taking place this weekend.

A note was placed on the Town Hall door reading: "We are NOT conducting the wedding of Mr Clooney at this office today (Friday 12th September) and a film crew and press photographers would only cause plausible disruption to other couples getting married on this day.

"So we would ask that the press do not attend."

Members of the Town Hall also revealed that they know nothing about Clooney and Alamuddin’s wedding plans.

Rumours of a civil ceremony in London before flying out to Venice for a lavish bash were announced in US Weekly last week.
