Lily Allen has said she received a string of “abhorrent” tweets after she spoke out in the wake of the Finsbury Park terror attack.

One man was killed and 10 others injured after a van was driven into worshippers near Finsbury Park mosque in a suspected terrorist attack in the early hours of Monday morning.

One man has been arrested and the Metropolitan Police confirmed that Counter Terrorism officers are investigating the attack.

Tweeting minutes after the news broke, Allen, 32, claimed the attacker had been “radicalised” by the British media.

She tweeted: “Radicalized by the British media. #FinsburyPark.”

The singer later told followers that she would be deleting a string of tweets after claiming she received abusive replies.

“I'm deleting my tweets you all know where I stand on this,” she posted.

“The replies I'm getting are abhorrent. This has attracted the worst of the worst.”

Harry Potter author JK Rowling also spoke out about the “disgusting” coverage of the attack.

She tweeted: “Victim blaming in the usual newspapers is disgusting. #FinsburyPark mosque won an award for combating extremism.”

Other stars including Dermot O’Leary and Ellie Goulding reached out to those affected by the devastating attack.

Allen's tweets marked her second attack on the media after she last week claimed the death toll from the Grenfell Tower fire was being covered up.

The Smile singer, who grew up in the area and is still a resident, accused the media of ‘downplaying’ the fire, claiming she had inside information about the number of deaths.

Speaking on Channel 4 news she said: “Seventeen? I'm sorry but I am hearing from people the figure is much closer to 150 - and that many of those people are children.

“They are off-the-record numbers I have been given from policemen and from firemen.

“There's a lot of anger here towards the council - how they dealt with people's concerns leading up to and after the event.”
