Ewan McGregor has said that he thinks it’d be ‘cool’ to play James Bond.

The Scottish star, who was reportedly offered the part back in 2006, thinks that he’s too old to be typecast anymore.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the Los Cabos Film Festival, the actor said:

“I think it would be quite cool to play James Bond.

“At this stage in my career (being typecast) is not really an issue anymore.

“Early on, when you start off you don't want your horizons to be narrow, but I think people know I have some kind of width in my work, so I'm really not worried about that anymore,” he added.

Although he has never confirmed that he was offered the role of Bond ahead of Daniel Craig, the star was thought to be in the running for Casino Royale.

Other actors who are rumoured to be in the running to take over from Craig include Damian Lewis, Tom Hardy and Idris Elba.

Discussing the forthcoming Trainspotting sequel, he said: “It's almost 100 percent sure, it depends mostly on scheduling. I think we all want to do it."

“I'd like more than anything to be working with Danny again and to be making a sequel to such an important film.”
