He doesn't make many top 10s these days - which is exactly why Eddie Murphy has made Forbes magazine's list as Hollywood's most overpaid actor.

For every $1 the actor was paid for his last three movies, they returned an average of $2.30, according to Forbes.

You’d be forgiven for having not heard of Imagine That, A Thousand Words and Meet Dave, all of which starred the 51-year-old this year and all of which were labelled flops.

Tower Heist, which was released last year, also failed to impress, earning a little more than double its budget of $75 million.

According to Forbes, a movie has to earn twice its production budget in ticket sales, taking into account marketing costs, to be considered a financial success.

Second on the list was Katherine Heigl, whose recent film One For The Money earned just $37 million and cost $40 million to make.

Reese Witherspoon, Sandra Bullock and Jack Black also made the list.

Murphy has already revealed he is trying to return to the good old days of Beverly Hills Cop.

Earlier this year he said he was discussing a remake of the TV show starring the son of his own character Axel Foley, with Axel now the chief of police in Detroit.
