Eamonn Holmes has liked a tweet criticising Rochelle Humes’ presenting on This Morning.

Holmes, 59, fronts the show with his wife Ruth Langsford every Friday, with Humes filling in when regulars Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are on holiday.

She has been presenting with John Barrowman over the Easter Break – but some are not fans of her style, with Holmes liking a tweet from a viewer which read: “I have absolutely nothing against Rochelle she seems to be a lovely gentle person but for me she’s just not a natural TV presenter.

“For me the most genuine and relatable person and who just oozes natural ease in front of the camera is Eamonn Holmes #ThisMorning.”

Holmes failed to defend Humes in his reply, instead thanking the viewer for the “compliment”.

“I think a lot of people will disagree with you,” he tweeted. “All I try to do is do my homework, be real and pretend there's no glass screen between you and me. I am most complimented that you recognise that. Thank you x. (Sic).”

He also liked a string of tweets hailing him “the greatest presenter on TV” and an “inspiration”.

Holmes has been co-hosting the ITV show with Langsford since 2006.

Humes was Willoughby’s replacement when she stepped in to co-host I’m A Celebrity with Declan Donnelly in Ant McPartlin’s absence in November.

She stepped in again in February after Willoughby missed two days due to illness.

Humes and her husband Marvin are gearing up to front brand new Saturday night series, Playlisters, which will see three couples compete against each other in an attempt to name the song and artist when they hear a track.
