The E4 teen drama - which stars Will Merrick (Alo Creevey) and Freya Mavor (Mini McGuinness) - will go out with a bang with three special two-hour episodes to be screened next year, but the current sixth series will reportedly be its last.

A channel insider told the Daily Star: "We think Skins has gone as far as we can take it but we know fans will be disappointed. So we think three episodes to really celebrate the series is a good send-off.

"There will be all the usual drama as we wave goodbye to some top characters."

A number of former Skins cast members have been linked to the special episodes, including Slumdog Millionaire actor Dev Patel - who played Anwar Kharral in the first series of the programme - and his former co-star Nicholas Hoult (Tony Stonem)

Kaya Scodelario (Effy Stonem) has been lined up to front the second special, with current 'Skins' stars Dakota Blue Richards (Franky Fitzgerald) and Sebastian De Souza (Matty Levan) linked to the third episode.

The latest series of 'Skins' has seen Grace Violet - who was played by Jessica Sula - die in a car crash and Mini fall pregnant.
