Jack Fox has told how he relished living “like Indiana Jones” for his latest movie, shot in the deserts of Jordan.

The 29-year-old Londoner — the latest in the Fox acting dynasty— said filming Theeb was “amazing” and he is “incredibly proud” of the result.

The movie, one of his first after stints in TV dramas and on stage, will be screened in Leicester Square tomorrow as part of the London Film Festival.

He was the only professional actor to star in it as the cast is mainly made up of locals. It tells the story of Bedouin child Theeb — which means wolf — and his fight for survival in the desert during the First World War. Fox plays a British army officer.

He said: “It was amazing. It’s not every day you get to film in a country like Jordan and have an experience like Indiana Jones. It was camel riding, being aware of surroundings, being in the desert.”

The movie won the Orizzonti Award for best director at last month’s Venice Festival. It is Jordanian director Naji Abu Nowar’s first feature film. Fox said. “I’m incredibly proud. It was amazing to see in Venice — the reception was brilliant. I’m excited to see what people think about it in London.”

The actor, whose TV credits include Mr Selfridge, Fresh Meat, Dracula and Lewis, made his stage debut in an adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s The Picture Of Dorian Gray in London earlier this year.

He has a number of films coming out in the next few months, including Kids In Love, starring Cara Delevingne. He said of her acting: “I think she’s got a lot of talent, she’s very gifted. She cares a lot about what she does, she wants to be the best she can be, which is the most you can ask of as an actor.”

The son of James Fox, his actor relatives include brother Laurence, uncle Edward, cousins Freddie and Silent Witness star Emilia and sister-in-law Billie Piper.
