Declan Donnelly’s baby news is reportedly "bittersweet" for best friend and co-presenter Ant McPartlin.

McPartlin, who recently split from wife Lisa Armstrong, is said to be "hurting” after finding out that his professional partner Donnelly is set to become a dad with wife Ali Astall, despite being "thrilled" for his friend.

A source told The Mirror: “Ant is thrilled for Dec and Ali but the news sparked other emotions because he has always wanted children.

“There is some heartache and it is a bittersweet moment.”

The insider added: “Ant has gone into rehab and has recently split from his wife Lisa, so his life is just not the same as the one Ant has right now.”

Standard Online have contacted representatives for McPartlin for comment.

McPartlin announced his split from wife of 11 years, Lisa Armstrong, earlier this year in a solo statement.

The Geordie presenter has recently hit headlines once more after being charged for drink-driving following a failed roadside breathalyser test.

On Sunday, Donnelly confirmed his happy news with a picture of him and Ali on their wedding day alongside the caption: “Just wanted to say thank you for all the lovely messages.

“The news has sneaked out a little earlier than we had hoped but Ali and I are delighted to be expecting our first child. Thanks for all the love, we really appreciate it. D x.”
