It must be a hard life being David Beckham, so it’s no surprise that the former footballer gave himself a well-earned poolside break following the launch of new football team Inter Miami.

Following his lengthy family holiday in Bali and South of France over the summer and the announcement of his new team on Wednesday, Beckham decided to treat himself to an indulgent pool day on his own.

The former sportsman was spotted enjoying a spot of relaxation by the pool at the Soho House Club, having a little sunbathe in between eating burgers and sipping on cocktails.

His wife Victoria Beckham and four children, who all appear on the cover of this month’s British Vogue, were not with him.

Beckham had a copy of the Miami Herald with him, with a promotion for his new club emblazoned in pink on the front page.

Just 24 hours earlier, Beckham had announced that the name of the club would be Club International de Futbol Miami.

Beckham has also revealed the club's new crest, which features the name, two birds and the Roman numerals for the year 2020, when the club is scheduled to make its MLS debut.

In an Instagram post, Beckham expressed his pride in the realisation of a dream which began back in 2014.

He wrote: “Four years ago, we dreamt of a soccer club. Today, we’re proud to announce the official name and crest of our new team, Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami. @intermiamicf @mls. THIS IS US. THIS IS MIAMI.”

His fashion designer wife finally addressed rumours that the couple had split in the new issue of Vogue, insisting that they were better off together than apart.

She said: “People have been making things up about our relationship for 20 years, so David and I are pretty used to ignoring the nonsense and just carrying on as normal.

“But these things have a wider effect on the people around us, and that’s unfair.”

Elaborating, Beckham opened up about being a “brand”, saying: “We both realise that we are stronger together than we are as individuals.

“Would either of us be in the position that we are in now had we not met and been together all those years ago? It’s all about the family unit.

“We are much stronger - the six of us - than we would be if we were individuals. We respect that family bond and that is key.”
