Love Island fans have been left fearing for Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham’s pet bulldog after they announced they have split.

Dyer confirmed the news in an emotional Instagram post, telling fans they will “always have a place in our hearts for each other”.

Attention turned to their new dog, with many fearing for its welfare as fans questioned whether or not she will be rehomed.

One tweeted: “So Dani and Jack from love island have split up... They’ve just brought a house and dog together, my worry is where is the dog going & does it need a new home.”

Another wrote: “Can’t believe Jack and Dani split up but now I’m wondering about their dog...will they have shared custody? Will one of them keep it?”

The pair, who met and won this year’s Love Island, faced a backlash after introducing Sandy on Instagram in November, with many accusing them of buying the dog as an “accessory”.

Fincham hit back after Dyer received a torrent of abuse online. Tweeting alongside a picture of himself hugging Sandy he wrote: “This will be the first time I’ve ever brought up a puppy myself. My family and I have always rescued dogs and continue to do so only two weeks ago was the last one.

“I will give this puppy the best possible life, love and care. A dog is for life.”

Fincham has yet to comment on their split, which was reportedly a result of them “growing apart with their hectic work schedules”.

A source told The Sun Online: “When they left the villa they really thought they would stay together forever, but reality soon set in and things started to get strained.

“They came out to a whirlwind of publicity and after a while, things started to get to them and the cracks appeared.”

They were rumoured to be on the rocks in October after sources claimed they were “at each other’s necks” but they later denied the claims.

The exes will appear alongside each other on the Love Island reunion show this month as well as hosting the red carpet for the National Television Awards in January. Their ITV2 reality show Jack and Dani: Life After Love Island is still expected to air.
