Cheryl has revealed plans to release a new track in March, months after comeback single Love Made Me Do It flopped in the singles’ charts.

The singer announced the news on The One Show where she was joined by her The Greatest Dancer co-star Oti Mabuse.

“I am releasing a new song in March, ish, I never like to give a specific date,” she said.

She revealed that the new song would be “a bit more uptempo” instead of a classic ballad.

When questioned about the new information by fans, Cheryl replied that she would talk about it “some day” and promised it “would be discussed”.

The 35-year-old had previously vowed to leave her music career behind if Love Made Me Do It, which was her first single in four years, flopped in the charts.

She told the Guardian Guide: “If it goes in at 80, it’s time for me to move on with my life. I'm not going to jump around working hard and spending time away from my son for that.”

Love Made Me Do It peaked at number 19 in the charts before sliding down to number 48, with Cheryl’s performance on The X Factor being branded “painful” by critics.

After the audition rounds are over, Cheryl and her fellow Dance Captains will pick three acts to mentor through to the live finals for a chance to perform on Strictly Come Dancing and win £50,000 to aid their career.
