The pilot flying the plane carrying Carrie Fisher increased his speed in a bid to save the actress after she suffered a heart attack.

Fisher went into cardiac arrest just 10 minutes before the plane from London was due to land in Los Angeles just a few days before Christmas.

In the newly-released audio of the 911 call, airline staff can be heard telling paramedics that the pilot would be landing the plane earlier than expected.

“One of our international flights from London coming in, it’s about 10 minutes out and it’s a medical emergency for a passenger in (seat) two foxtrot female,” they can be heard saying.

She goes on to say that the pilot is ‘making up time’ and is due to land at 9.28pm.

The actress’ heart stopped beating and was revived by passengers who had CPR training.
