Boris Becker has reportedly separated from wife Lilly after 13 years together.

The former tennis ace, 50, is thought to have “amicably” split from the Dutch model, 40, who he wed nine years ago.

According to German newspaper Bild, the couple have made the “difficult” decision to end their relationship and will now focus on the well-being of their eight-year-old son, Amadeus.

“The decision after a 13-year-long relationship and nine years of marriage wasn't an easy one,” lawyer Christian-Oliver Moser told the publication.

“The most important thing for both clients is the well-being of their son Amadeus.”

Earlier this year, Lilly told the Daily Mail that the pair had been going to counselling in a bid to save their marriage , a year after the sports star was declared bankrupt.

“I’ve had a rough year. At first, I let go completely — in every way. Too much drinking, too much smoking, too much going out and not caring. I thought: my life sucks and I’m going to die,” she said.

“I turned to vodka. I was smoking a pack a day. Boris was going through a bad time in his way, so he didn’t notice. We disconnected and went our own ways.”

She added: “We did couples’ therapy. It was something we never thought we would have to do. It helped. We did an hour a day for five days a week. It was nice to have the input from someone on the outside who doesn’t know you and isn’t biased.”

Becker married actress Barbara Feltus in 1993 and they welcomed son Noah in 1994 and Elias in 1999. They divorced in 2001.

Evening Standard Online has contacted Becker’s representatives for comment.
