The Russell brand #Parklife twitter trend is gathering pace but Blur's Alex James was oblivious to the hashtag until the Evening Standard alerted him to it.

The word from Blur’s hit song of the same name in 1994 is being used to react to the comedian's tweets following the release of his book Revolution.

Speaking to the Standard's Amira Hashish at the Made of London celebrity interview series, in partnership with London Pride, the bassist said: "Really? Park Life is trending? I didn't know that. I'll have to check it out."

Asked whether he would jump on the social media #Parklife bandwagon he said: "Definitely. I am on Twitter so I will take a look."

He also revealed that creating the formula for his award-winning cheese was a far more time consuming process than penning Parklife. “It took me longer to come up with the recipe for Blue Monday than it did for us to write Parklife,” he said.
