Beyoncé and Jay-Z accept Brit Award in front of regal portrait of Meghan Markle

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have surprised fans by accepting their Brit Award for Best International Group in front of a regal portrait of the Duchess of Sussex.

The Carters accepted their award on video as they could not attend the show in person.

In the footage, the couple were seen standing in front of a portrait of Meghan Markle dressed as a Queen.

Beyonce told viewers: “Thank you so much to the Brit Awards for this incredible honour. You guys have always been so supportive.

“Everything is love. Thank you.”

Jay-Z then jokes “you’re welcome” before the couple then turn their backs to the camera and face the portrait of Meghan.

Fans were left delighted at the reference to the duchess.

The Brit Awards were held at the 02 Arena in London.

George Ezra took the award for best British Male while Jorja Smith won Best British Single.

The 1975 accepted the gong for Best British Group.
