Madonna, Jennifer Lopez and Liam Gallagher are among a host of stars who have paid tribute to the victims of the terror attacks in Spain.

At least 13 people were killed and 100 injured, 15 seriously, when a van hit pedestrians in the Las Ramblas area of Barcelona on Thursday afternoon.

Spanish actor Antonio Banderas lead the tributes, telling his 500,000 followers that he is ‘fused in a hug’ with the city.

Madonna shared an Instagram video from inside a Church and encouraged her fans to “say a prayer.”

She wrote: “We need more light in this World! Say A Prayer and Light a candle for Barcelona!”

Jennifer Lopez, who wrote her tribute in Spanish, tweeted: “Sending you much love and peace to the great city of Barcelona and all its beautiful people.”

Elijah Wood said his “heart is with Barcelona,” Sheryl Crow said her prayers will be “constant for humanity in general,” and The Vamps’ James McVey shared a picture from a gig in the city which he said “will always be Barcelona for me.”

The Islamic State terror group has claimed responsibility for the attack which is the deadliest Spain has seen since 2004 when more than 190 people died in the Madrid train bombs.

Hours later five terrorists wearing suspected suicide belts who were planning a second atrocity in Spain were shot dead by police.

The men rammed civilians with a car in the Spanish seaside town of Cambrills before being gunned down. Seven people were injured.

Mariano Rajoy, the Spanish prime minister, has declared three days of national mourning.
