Annie Lennox has been given the opportunity of a lifetime.

After four decades in the industry, selling 75 million albums worldwide and winning four Grammys she has been ‘scouted’ by a local US radio station wanting to turn her into a star.

One confused employee at a Los Angeles based company reached out to Lennox after ‘coming across’ her music online and ‘really liking it’.

Thinking the Eurythmics star was a small-time singer, the employee, who gave her name as Kylie, promised to play Lennox’s music to 100,000 listeners – and even offered to help out with her PR campaign.

Lennox shared a picture of the letter she received on Facebook and joked: “I think I'm in with a chance??!!!”

The correspondence read: “I came across your music online and I really like what I heard! I'm the New Music Coordinator for a station that has over 100,000 unique listeners each month.

“I find artists who I think have potential and get them on rotation in our station. If you'd like, please send over the MP3 for your latest single. I'll forward it to Glenn our program director here at [name censored] to see if he's interested in putting it on rotation.

“Also what sort of support campaign do you have going on for your single (press, video, licensing etc?)

“I only ask because we are connected to an artist development firm that can also get you onto 150 radio stations worldwide and provide support for press, retail, video and licensing.”

Kylie added that “the best part is” Lennox would be able to get all of the marketing expenses covered “if they really like your music”, before insisting that she say Kylie referred her if she takes up the opportunity.

She finished: “Let me know your thoughts and be sure to send me that MP3!”
