Amy Schumer appears to have cancelled her popular Comedy Central sketch show.

The actress and comedian has told fans that she ‘isn’t making’ Inside Amy Schumer anymore amid a Twitter row over comments made by her friend and former show writer Kurt Metzger.

After Metzger made a number of controversial remarks about sexual abuse, Schumer found herself facing a barrage of tweets from fans.

“I am so saddened and disappointed in Kurt Metzger. He is my friend and a great writer and I couldn't be more against his recent actions,” Schumer wrote on Twitter.

“Kurt does not work for me. He is not a writer on my show. Please stop asking me about it. His words are not mine.”

She later added: “I didn't fire Kurt. He isn't a writer for my show because we aren't making the show anymore. There are no writers for it.”

Inside Amy Schumer was renewed for a fifth season in January this year, although the star is yet to confirm whether or not this will air.

The backlash against Metzger started when he commented on allegations of sexual assault against a fellow comedian.

In a Facebook post, he wrote: “Guys I have just heard some disturbing news, this guy Jiff Dilfyberg is a rapist!

“I know because women said it and that's all I need! Never you mind who they are. They are women! ALL women are as reliable as my bible! A book that, much like a women, is incapable of lying!”

He added: “Don’t f****** complain about the police not helping if you didn’t bother going to the police at all. Why aren’t the rape kits being tested??

“Because instead of actually educating women with useful information on what to do if they are being victimized, you blather nonsense about ‘culture’ and then tell them being weak is being strong.”
