Amanda Holden didn’t quite get the entrance she was hoping for at the Daily Mirror’s Animal Hero awards.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge, 45, was playing host at the annual bash when she was pounced upon by Baxter the Labrador.

Holden – who was wearing a floor length black sequinned dress – was taken aback as the happy puppy pushed her to the floor on stage.

Baxter’s owners watched on in shock as he proceeded to lick Holden's face.

The friendly canine was on stage to collect the Animal Hero award for saving six-year-old Olivia Goodman’s life after she started choking following a seizure.

Speaking ahead of the event at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, Holden said: “I’m delighted to be working with the Animal Hero Awards again this year.

“It’s so important to recognise those who selflessly dedicate themselves to animal welfare – as well as the outstanding animals themselves, of course!”

The annual event, which celebrates the bravery, dedication and resilience of animals, attracted a star studded guestlist including Alesha Dixon, Brian May and Laura Whitmore – who stood out in a floral print trouser suit.

Holden's on stage surprise comes days after she revealed that she is often banished to the "naughty step" by her husband Chris Hughes.

The TV favourite said Hughes is not a fan of how open she is about their private life in interviews.

“Much to my poor husband’s dismay, I confess everything to some newspaper or other every week by accident or on Twitter, because I am chatty I have no more secrets because of social media and life in general,” she told the Daily Express.

Holden – who has two daughters, Hollie and Alexa, with Hughes – said she regrets her lack of a filter.

“Oh god! All the time! Every week,” she said. “Every week when I sit on the naughty step because Chris puts me there.”
