Alexander Skarsgård has plunged fans into mourning after debuting a half bald head.

The 41-year-old heartthrob shocked fans when he arrived at a Louis Vuitton exhibition in New York with the top of his head shaved.

The Tarzan actor appeared unfazed by his new look as he flashed a smile for photographers on the red carpet.

But fans were less than impressed by the Prince William-esque style and begged Oscar bosses to award him for making such a drastic change.

The questionable look is most likely for his new film The Hummingbird Project which follows a “pair of high-frequency traders going up against their old boss in an effort to make millions in a fiber-optic cable deal.”

The True Blood actor spoke previously about throwing himself into his characters, saying he doesn't care how he is asked to look for a role.

“I think if vanity becomes a part of who you are as an actor…it's important that you let yourself be true to the character,” he told E!.

“If you're vain and you're like, ‘Oh my fans won't like it if I'm a little chubby or if I'm pale or if I look older than I really am, I'm not doing my job then'.

“I'm an actor, not a sex symbol.”
