Legendary rockers AC/DC decided to have some fun with Guns N’ Roses as they touched down in Australia.

The US band fell victim to an “airport security” prank on landing at Sydney airport after AC/DC guitarist Angus Young managed to fool them into waiting on a plane.

Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan told fans that Young duped them by dressing up as a member of staff.

He tweeted: “Told we had to stay on plane last night in Sydney; ‘airport security’ wanted to do a check. We waited. It was Angus Young in an orange vest! (sic).”

The tweet fuelled rumours that Young will join Guns N’ Roses on stage at their Friday or Saturday night gigs.

The two bands are close, with Axl Rose replacing AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson in March last year after doctors ordered him to stop touring or risk total hearing loss.

Johnson said he was “personally crushed” by the news and said the “emotional experience” he felt was “worse than anything I have ever in my life felt before”.

Guns N’ Roses are heading to London to play the Olympic Stadium on June 16. The gig will see the original line-up of Axl, McKagan, keyboard player Dizzy Reed and lead guitarist Slash.

They are also among the rumoured names to headline Glastonbury Festival. If confirmed, it would mark the first time the band has played the Worthy Farm event.
