Bruce Springsteen is to return as one of the headline acts for the Hard Rock Calling festival next year.

The rock legend will be the main attraction on the Saturday night of the event which takes place in July, three years after he last topped the bill.

Springsteen - the first of the headliners to be announced - will be performing with his E Street Band, which lost long-time saxophone player Clarence Clemons in the summer following a stroke. They play on July 14.

Toby Leighton-Pope, of promoter Live Nation, said: "It's great to welcome Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band back to Hyde Park. They always put on a fantastic show and 2012 is set to be a special one."

Tickets for Hard Rock will go on sale on December 3, with a total of around 150,000 people expected to attend the event which takes place from July 13 to 15.
