Tributes have poured in for the two-time Emmy-winning actor and father of three, who passed away after suffering from a short illness.

Braugher played Captain Raymond Holt in the coveted police series, which followed the stories of several detectives in the New York City Police Department's 99th prescint.

The comedic yet often deadpan portrayal by Braughner in Brooklyn Nine-Nine is one of many unforgettable features of the long-running series.

Among those who have shared their heartfelt condolences following Braugher's death were several Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-stars, including Terry Crews, who said, “I will be forever grateful for the experience of knowing you. Thank you for your wisdom, your advice, your kindness and your friendship. Deepest condolences to your wife and family in this difficult time. You showed me what a life well lived looks like."

Marc Evan Jackson, who played Braugher's on-screen husband, also shared a statement with PEOPLE that read: “Andre elevated every moment he came anywhere near, and it was an honor to have known and worked with him. My deepest condolences to his family, and all those who like all of us, loved him very much.”

Brooklyn Nine-Nine came to an end in 2021, yet Braugher's influence in the show will remain one of the star's lasting legacies.
