St Andrew's, Turnberry, Woburn and now Covent Garden. From today a new golf course will open in the unlikely surroundings of WC2.

The nine-hole course is more than just a sporting venue however: it?s art.

The Absolut Art Holes course is a collaborative project between the Swedish vodka company, Idler magazine and a group of British artists.

Shaun Clarkson, the artist who co-ordinated the project, said, ?Everyone has been coming past and saying: ?what are you doing?? Children seem very interested but unfortunately Absolut?s philosophy is they should not play on it because of the alcohol connection.?

Designers include Abigail Fallis, who has created a hole that demands the player steer a ball into Union Jack Y-fronts. Giorgio Sardotti has come up with a multi-coloured hole and Clarkson?s own contribution is based on spin the bottle.

The RAF epic The Dam Busters inspired Billy Childish?s hole, which includes a water feature.

The Absolut Art Holes Krazy golf course is open until 11 September in Covent Garden?s East Piazza.
