Anna Kendrick has shared that she made embryos with her “toxic” ex-boyfriend before finding out he was interested in another woman.

The 37-year-old actress admitted she thought she’d found “her person” before the relationship began to decline as she appeared on the Armchair Expert podcast.

Kendrick revealed that she’d been planning a family with her ex, prior to discovering his toxic ways.

She said: “I was with someone — this was somebody I lived with, for all intents and purposes my husband. We had embryos together; this was my person…

“And then about six years in, about somewhere around there, I remember telling my brother, when things had first kind of gone down, ‘I’m living with a stranger. Like, I don’t know what’s happening.’”

Kendrick recalled trying to confront her ex about their issues, which led to him “screaming” at her, to the point where she was left “curled in a ball, sobbing”.

The Love Life star said that her ex had mentioned another woman, and later addressed him when he visited her on set as she asked him what was wrong.

“The worst possible thing was, I was like, ‘please don’t say this girl’s name’, and he started talking about this girl,” Kendrick continued.

The actress subsequently split from her ex, and confessed that she ended up blaming herself over the break-up and “dismantled” her life as a result.

“There was an inherent thing of me being so rejectable that this person who loved me very deeply for six years, it suddenly occurred to him, how awful I was or something,” Kendrick said.

“The shame, that lingers much longer.”

She added: “I did start going to Al-Anon while all this was going on. I mean, look, I truly dismantled my life, and at first, that was as a reaction to the accusation that I was crazy, and I was the one causing the problem.”

Kendrick began seeing “two therapists a week”, as she said she initially sought for help to “stop being crazy” — a feeling she couldn’t shake after her split — and took up meditation.

The actress added that she eventually stuck with one therapist, who taught her to establish boundaries in her relationships, and acknowledged that the absence of these is what ultimately “ended” her time with her ex.
