As you may have noticed, there has been a shift in the world of celebrity romance in recent months.

Whether it’s the Venus retrograde or the ease of singledom in the warmer months, everyone seems to want to uncouple.

And, if it does actually have anything to do with the planet of love being in retrograde, we might have to brace ourselves for more relationships falling apart as it is set to continue until September 3.

The world of showbusiness has been a prime example of love potentially being dead recently, with numerous it-couples announcing their breaking up or getting a divorce.

Here is a comprehensive list of all the loved-up pairs who have called it quits recently.

Britney Spears and Sam Asghari

After a little more than a year of marriage, Sam Asghari and Britney Spears have divorced.

According to sources, Asghari has moved out of the house the couple shared and is now living at his own apartment. He has also reportedly filed for divorce.

In a celebrity-studded wedding in June 2022, Spears, 41, and Asghari, 29, exchanged vows at the US singer’s Los Angeles home.

They met while filming the Slumber Party music video in 2016, and got engaged in September 2021 as her contentious conservatorship, the court order that governed her life and finances, appeared to be ending.

Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello

The gorgeous couple had become engaged after dating for just six months, making everyone gush about the power of love.

However, in early July, the two announced they were getting a divorce after being married for seven years.

They released a statement to make the announcement, which said: “We have made the difficult decision to divorce.

“As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”

Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn then Matt Healy

Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn started dating back in 2016, with many expecting them to announce their engagement soon.

However, very unexpectedly, in early April, the couple decided to split up after six years together.

A source told the website Entertainment Tonight that the split was amicable and “not dramatic”, adding the relationship had “just run its course”.

Swift then began to date musician Matt Healy, but their union only lasted a number of weeks before Swift chose singledom again.

A source told Entertainment Tonight: “Taylor and Matty broke up. They are both extremely busy and realized they’re not really compatible with each other.

“Taylor’s friends want what’s best for her and aren’t shocked that their relationship fizzled out since she recently got out of a long-term relationship.”

Cher and A.E. Alexander

Iconic singer Cher elated fans when she revealed she was dating music producer Alexander Edwards.

The 76-year-old and the 37-year-old had been together since November 2022 and even started to work on new music together.

But the two decided to go their separate ways in spring, with a source telling E! that the split was amicable.

Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner

The lovebirds had been married for 18 years, but they are now getting a divorce.

The sad news was announced by Costner’s publicist, who explained: “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage.

“We ask that his, Christine’s and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time.”

It was the second marriage for Costner, 68, following his 16-year marriage to Cindy Silva that ended in 1994 and made history as one of the most expensive divorces in Hollywood, with a settlement of around $80 million (£62.9 million).

Liam Payne and Kate Cassidy

Liam Payne and Kate Cassidy split in May after dating for 10 months.

The pair made their red carpet debut at the British Fashion Awards in December 2022, but now Cassidy has moved out of Payne’s home and returned to the US.

A source told The Sun: “There was no big row or anything — it just ran its course and they both mutually decided to go their separate ways.

“Liam knows it’s the right decision, he’s been throwing himself into his music and the rest of the year he is jam-packed with work.”

Billie Eilish and Jesse Rutherford

The iconic singer Billie Eilish, 21, was with 31-year-old Jesse Rutherford for seven months before they decided to go their separate ways.

Their split was confirmed by Eilish’s representative, who told Page Six: “We can confirm Billie and Jesse did split amicably and remain good friends.”

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott

Spelling and McDermott first met in the mid-00s on the set of the 2005 Lifetime movie Mind Over Murder in Canada. While they were both married to different people at the time, they fell in love with each other.

“It was love at first sight. I fell so hard… Then I noticed he had a wedding ring,” Spelling wrote in her 2009 memoir, sTORI Telling, about meeting McDermott. “When someone asked, he pulled out photos of his children. And — oh, yeah — I had a husband too.”

The two started a relationship and filed for divorce and, when their divorces were settled in 2006, they eloped in Fiji.

During their 18-year marriage, they welcomed a number of children, had a few reality shows, and publicly dealt with many marital woes. But in July, McDermott went on Instagram to announce that the two were going their “separate ways” to “start a new journey”.

Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef

Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef were among the Hollywood stars who called it quits this summer.

The two had tied the knot back in 2018 and enjoyed married life for the past six years. But, in early July, they released a joint statement on Instagram that explained: “For some time, we have considered transforming our relationship, and it is after careful consideration that we have decided to end our marriage with love, respect and dignity for our children — preserving and honouring what we have experienced as a couple all these wonderful years.

“Our greatest desire now is to continue having a healthy family dynamic and a relationship centred on our genuine friendship, as we continue the joint upbringing of our children.

“As always, we thank you for all the love and support we received throughout our marriage. We are united in nurturing this new chapter of our lives.”

Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez

Insiders told TMZ they were having issues before she left for Wicked filming [in London]. One source explained that, “when Covid restrictions lifted, we’re told their differences became alarmingly apparent. Dalton, [a Los Angeles] realtor, was taken aback by Ariana’s celebrity. He had not dealt with her schedule, the paparazzi, and the various opportunities that took her out of LA.”

“There was no cheating, no resentment between them, the marriage just simply didn’t work out. These things happen,” the source continued.

According to reports, the duo remain friends, “phone regularly”, and even made a last-ditch attempt to make things work back in May after officially ending things at the start of the year.
