Cult film director Wes Anderson has made a surprise comeback with a Christmas advert for H&M.

The awkward auteur has made a beautifully shot four-minute short titled Come Together, starring regular collaborator Adrien Brody.

He stars as Conductor Ralph, a Sleeping Car Attendant on the H&M Lines Winter Express Train.

With the train delayed due to heavy snow, Ralph informs the passengers that they won’t be home in time for Christmas.

Instead, he plans a festive celebration in one of the carriages with “chocolate flavoured hot beverage with whipped topping” on offer.

The advert has been shot in Anderson’s instantly recognisable signature style, with plenty of symmetrical compositions, tracked camera shots around the train carriages, and a deadpan sense of humour.

The clip also features a pastel colour scheme reminiscent of his most recent feature film, The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Brody has previously starred in three Wes Anderson films – The Grand Budapest Hotel, Fantastic Mr Fox, and The Darjeeling Limited.

Anderson’s brief return is an unexpected one – the director has been hard at work on his untitled forthcoming project, a stop motion animation film centred around dogs, set for release in 2018.
