After not being shortlisted at the Oscars once more, Adam Sandler chose to swap Hollywood for the far more humdrum Kensington Leisure Centre last week.

The actor was seen playing basketball inside the west London sport courts alongside what looked like some younger locals relaxing after school or college.

A video shared on TikTok shows Sandler trying to defend during a three on three clash, wearing a floral shirt and jogging bottoms. Not that a dress code was mandatory, as one of Sandler’s opponents was wearing a school uniform.

TikToker Cacherel, who shared the video, said: "I'm in the ends yeah, west London. I pulled up to my local basketball court and look. Bro, that's Adam Sandler, look bro, you lot think I'm messing."

The clips have been seen thousands of times and while it is unclear why Sandler was in “the ends” last week it is known he enjoys a game of basketball – and is often seen playing in the US.

While not often praised for his roles (with the possible exceptions of Punch Drunk Love and The Meyerowitz Stories), Sandler has garnered a reputation as a bankable comedy star.

The 57-year-old was recently named as the industry’s best paid actor having signed a four-film deal with Netflix in 2020 worth more than $250 million.

His most recent effort Spaceman was released last week and in his 2022 film Hustle he played an NBA scout.

Who knows if he saw anyone with potential in London.

Sandler himself has not commented on the game but Cacherel’s followers were quick to chip in with their thoughts on what they saw.

"Adam Sandler’s actually a serious baller,” one said. “Do your research. He pulls up to local courts all the time.”

Another said: “Rich enough to catch a flight to just play basketball with some British kids, humble enough to do it dressed like someone’s granddad.”
