Is this the new John Lewis Christmas advert 2017?

The John Lewis Christmas advert marks the start of the festive season for many, so it’s no surprise that Twitter went into overdrive this morning when a suspected teaser trailer was dropped.

Hashtagged #Underthebed, the five second trailer shows a pair of eyes belonging to a furry creature peering out from – you guessed it – under a bed.

Many commentators believe it is a John Lewis teaser as the hashtag shown at the bottom of the screen features the same font the store has used in its previous adverts.

The video comes from the cryptic Twitter account @UnderTheBed2017, which was set up back in October but had tweeted nothing – until last night.

So far, the account has posted two videos, with the latest being one second longer than the first, leading people to believe that longer teasers may be dropped until the full version airs on TV.

Argos may have been the first to air its Christmas ad this year with M&S quickly following, but it’s the John Lewis campaign that still reigns the airwaves and the frenzy surrounding its release only grows more fervent each year.

After last year’s starring role went to Buster the Boxer, could John Lewis be treating viewers to a monster visit this Christmas?

With two teasers released already, it seems we won’t have to wait too long to find out.
