McBusted, the group formed by members of Busted and McFly, have announced a "ridiculous" new gig - headlining Hyde Park.

The newly formed pop group, who have already organised a tour, will headline British Summer Time Hyde Park in July.

"It does feel ridiculous. Bruce Springsteen played Hyde Park, the Rolling Stones played Hyde Park. Now McBusted," Matt Willis joked.

Harry Judd said that the band all "laughed" when they were told the news.

The band are rumoured to have been offered a record deal to write new material.

The group said that they might pen new songs on tour and that there had been lots of interest from record companies but nothing had been signed yet.

McFly's Dougie Poynter joked: "We don't want to commit. It's like New Year. You don't want to say what you're doing until the last minute."

There had also been speculation that ex-Busted star Charlie Simpson, who decided not to join McBusted, could have changed him mind.

Speaking at a press conference in central London, his ex-bandmate Willis said: "Charlie's not ready to do this yet. But we talk to him all the time. He's our mate, so hopefully, who knows. We'll leave the door open."

McBusted will headline on Sunday July 6 with special guest the Backstreet Boys.

McFly star Judd said: "We're confident that we're going to be able to put on a really good show. We have a big tour beforehand so we'll be well rehearsed."

Tickets go on general release from Friday.
