Yanny or Laurel? It's the viral audio debate that the internet simply cannot agree on.

The robotic-sounding clip has divided the internet into two warring tribes; those who hear "Yanny" and those who hear "Laurel".

After Reddit user RolandCamry posted the clip online, the debate quickly spread to Twitter where “Yanny” was mentioned more than 310,000 times in 24 hours and “Laurel” 330,000 times.

Friends even fell out over the debacle, while celebrities, writers and social stars waded in on the debate.

Here's a round-up of some of the funniest internet reactions below.

Model Chrissy Teigan defiantly tweeted: “It's so clearly laurel. I can't even figure out how one would hear yanny.”

Actress Mindy Kaling disagreed, replying: “I bought your cookbook. I loved it. And now you betray me? #yanny”.

Social star Chris Melberger’s tweet on the topic was retweeted over 10,000 times.

He wrote: “People who think it’s laurel: • are correct.

“People who think it’s yanny: • eat pizza with a fork and knife • don’t use turn signals • ask for snapchat streaks • film fights vertically on their phones • didn’t understand infinity war’s ending.”

One Yanny supporter tweeted: “People who hear yanny: Intellectuals / Can carry on a conversation / IQ over 150 / beautiful Rich and Successful.

“People who hear laurel: wrong”.

Someone else said: “Condolences to the person out there whose name is actually Laurel Yanny, who until today thought her name was just Yanny.”

One person appeared to have lost all hope, tweeting: “Weird, I don’t hear Yanny or Laurel anymore, just the long endless scream of a wasted life”.
