North Korea has released three American prisoners ahead of a summit with Donald Trump.
The men were said to be returning to the US with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo following a meeting with Kim Jong Un.
The President announced the news in a tweet on Wednesday.
It read: "I am pleased to inform you that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is in the air and on his way back from North Korea with the 3 wonderful gentlemen that everyone is looking so forward to meeting.
"They seem to be in good health. Also, good meeting with Kim Jong Un. Date & Place set."
He added that Secretary Pompeo will be landing at Andrews Air Force Base at 2am on Thursday and he will greet them on their arrival.
Kim Dong-chul, Tony Kim and Kim Hak-song were held on charges of committing espionage or unidentified "hostile acts" against North Korea.
Mr Pompeo was visiting the north for his second time this year.
There had been speculation that he could be coming back to the US with the three detained men.
His visit comes ahead of the upcoming talks between Kim Jong-un and Mr Trump.
The pending summit has sparked a flurry of diplomacy, with Japan, South Korea and China holding a high-level meeting on Wednesday.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said concerned parties should seize the opportunity to promote denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
Last June, 22-year-old Otto Warmbier was released and sent back to the US by North Korea after spending 17 months as a prisoner there. He died days later.
