Beyonce was noticeably absent from the 2021 Met Gala on Monday night.

And on Tuesday, the internet was on fire with speculation about the 40-year-old singer’s whereabouts.

Beyonce is a Met Gala stalwart, rarely missing the event, with husband Jay-Z often by her side.

But this year, the mega star skipped the annual star-studded event - a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York which is hosted by Vogue editor and tennis fan Dame Anna Wintour.

Instead, she is currently sailing in the Mediterranean and soaking up the glorious sunshine.

Along with her husband and, reportedly, their three children - Blue Ivy, Remi and Sir - Beyonce is staying on Jeff Bezos’s $500 million mega yacht.

The singer posted a series of images of the family holiday on her Instagram page on Monday. In the sun-soaked photos, Beyonce was seen wearing an orange and white print playsuit while enjoying her time abroad.

American Amazon entrepreneur Bezos’ yacht, featuring a pool and a cinema room, was said to have set him back $354 million and running costs escalate to $500 million.

It was reportedly created by Netherlands-based manufacturer Oceanco and it is supposed to be based on the Black Pearl - the world’s most technically advanced yacht.

Back in the celebrity world, the likes of Emma Raducanu, Kim Kardashian West, Jennifer Lopez and Billie Eilish were in attendance at Monday night’s party at the Met Gala.

Earlier this month, a number of stars wished Beyonce a happy 40th birthday.

A short message on Beyonce’s website read: “Happy birthday Beyonce from your friends and family” and encouraged fans to donate to her BeyGOOD foundation which is currently providing support to people living in her hometown of Houston, Texas.

The pop star also revealed last month she was recording new music and admitted she was ready to escape to travel again.

In a rare interview with Harper’s Bazaar magazine, she said: “With all the isolation and injustice over the past year, I think we are all ready to escape, travel, love, and laugh again.

“I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be part of nurturing that escape in any way possible. I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half.

“Still, there’s nothing like the amount of love, passion, and healing that I feel in the recording studio.”
