A man carrying two handguns and a copy of the Koran has been arrested outside a hotel at Disneyland Paris.

The 28-year-old was carrying the weapons, one of which was an automatic handgun, in a suitcase at the amusement park on Thursday.

His bag set off a security alarm as he went through a metal detector at the park's New York Hotel, a police source said.

French officials confirmed the arrest and said nobody was injured.

A woman who was with the man was also arrested, according to local reports.

The man had reportedly been unknown to police and was said to be of “European origin”.

A Disneyland spokeswoman said she had no immediate information about the incident.

France remains in a state of emergency since Islamist gunmen and suicide bombers killed 130 people in a series of jihadist attacks in Paris in November.
