An honoured war veteran has hit out at professional poker player Dan Bilzerian, describing a video of him fleeing from the Las Vegas shooting as “disgusting”.

Mr Bilzerian posted a chilling video of himself running away from gunfire at the Route 91 Music Festival on Sunday night.

In the shocking footage, he is seen running and shouting that he had seen a girl be “shot in the head” as he fled the danger.

Dakota Meyer, the husband of Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol, posted on Instagram slamming Bilzerian for running away from victims rather than helping them and accused him of playing "operator dress-up".

The veteran, who has been awarded medals for his military service, wrote: “This is why children shouldn't classify heroes by their followers or their photos. @danbilzerian this is what kills me about people like you."

Addressing the post to Bilzarian, who often posts pictures of himself posing with guns, he added: “Always playing ‘operator dress up’ and so so tough when the cameras are on.

"A woman just got shot in the head and you are running away filming that's not what operators do.

“Please stop trying to be someone you’re not. People are dying, you're running away not helping them and pretending it's worthy of a video is disgusting.”

US poker player Bilzerian had streamed the moment Stephen Paddock fired hundreds of rounds of ammunition at crowds enjoying the country music festival.

In the video, the 32-year-old can be heard saying "holy f*** this girl just got shot in the f****** head" as gunfire rang out in the background.

He then added "so f***ing crazy" before the story cut out.

Fifty-nine people were killed in the attack – the deadliest in modern American history – and hundreds more injured.
