Kim Kardashian is trying to free another convicted drug felon who was given life in prison.

Ms Kardashian announced she will campaign for Chris Young, who was jailed without parole in 2010 over a federal drug conspiracy case.

It comes after the reality star persuaded US president Donald Trump to overturn the life sentence of 63-year-old grandmother Alice Marie Johnson, who was sentenced in 1997 after she headed a multi-million dollar drug ring.

Mr Young, 30, suffers sickle cell anaemia. He was given life because of prior drug cases in his teens.

Speaking to the Wrongful Conviction podcast on Wednesday, Ms Kardashian revealed her involvement with Mr Young.

She said: “I had a call with a gentleman that’s in prison for a drug case. He got life. It’s so unfair. He’s been in for almost 10 years.

“His prior convictions to get him to three strikes was marijuana, and then marijuana with less than half a gram of cocaine.

“He got life and I was on the phone with the judge that sentenced him to life. He resigned because he had never been on the side of having to do something so unfair. He is fighting with us to get him out.

“There are so many people like him [Mr Young].”

Ms Kardashian added: “It’s scary when you have a minor drug charge but then you get life and you’re stuck in this crazy maximum security prison with murderers.”

Ms Kardashian has previously described Ms Johnson’s release in June as “forever one of my best memories”.
