Star Wars actor John Boyega has hit back at trolls with a hilarious Instagram video.

The star, who plays Finn in the sci-fi epic’s latest trilogy, was the centre of controversy online when he waded in on the debate around the love life of his character.

A fan commented on a New Year's Instagram video posted by Boyega, which showed the 27-year-old dancing, that it was Finn's reaction to love interest Rey being single after the death of Kylo Ren.

Boyega responded: “It’s not about who she kisses but who eventually lays the pipe. You are a genius.”

The actor received heavy criticism for his comments, including accusations of sexism and misogyny.

However, he has stuck to his guns, and his latest video shows he has no intention of apologising.

The footage shows the Londoner kicking away tweets, as well as riding a scooter over them and slashing through them with a lightsaber.

He ends by telling his 1.8 million followers “Glad I got that out of my system.”

Celebrities and fans alike responded positively to the actor’s action.

Former American Football player and screen star Terry Crews replied with a series of fire emojis, and actor Anika Noni Rose said “Love it!”.
