The founder of Ikea was wrongly declared dead in an errant tweet by a Swedish radio station.

Ingvar Kamprad, 91, the Swedish businessman who founded Ikea in 1943, is said to be in rude health - contrary to the incorrect message published online by a Swedish public radio station.

Mr Kamprad's obituary was linked to in the automated tweet sent at 10.41am yesterday.

The Twitter message sent out in error in Swedish, reads: "Not ready UPDATE TIME Ingvar Kamprad dead."

"Ingvar Kamprad has not passed away. Nor is he seriously ill," Ikea spokesperson Jakob Holmström told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.

One of the world's richest people, Kamprad's furniture chain has conquered the world with branches in Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East.
