Donald Trump has blasted a new book containing explosive allegations about his presidency as "phoney" and "full of lies".

The US President took to Twitter to attack Michael Wolff's 'Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House' ahead of its planned publication on Friday.

The book was originally set for release on January 9 but publishers pushed it forward by four days after the President's lawyer's unsuccessfully attempted to block its publication.

The new book gives a behind-the-scenes look at the tumultuous first months of the US president’s administration.

The book includes explosive claims that Mr Trump goes to bed with a cheeseburger at 6.30pm and watches three televisions at once.

It also alleges that he was scared of the White House and told staff not to touch anything — especially his toothbrush, because he reportedly fears being poisoned.

Mr Wolff, a well known American reporter and commentator, claims he was a "constant interloper" in the first months of the Trump administration, and that he has recorded tapes to back up his assertions.

Mr Trump tweeted: "I authorised Zero access to White House (actually turned him down many times) for author of phoney book!

He continued: "I never spoke to him for book. Full of lies, misrepresentations and sources that don’t exist."

Referring to former aide Steve Bannon, a reported major source of the claims in the book, he added: "Look at this guy's past and see what happens to him and Sloppy Steve!"

The book’s publisher, Henry Holt and Co, said it had brought forward the release date due to "unprecedented demand".

Mr Wolff tweeted: "Here we go. You can buy it (and read it) tomorrow. Thank you, Mr. President."

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said the book was filled with "false and misleading accounts".
